You Can Now Hide Your Background On Skype Calls

Top video calling app, Skype has added a “background blur” feature to its platform.

The background blur feature – which we first saw in September 2018 on Microsoft Teams, was added to the features on Skype in its most recent update released last week.

Skype added this new feature because according to the company, there are lots of things “that can get in the way of you being the focus in every video call.”

Users now have the ability to blur out things in the background like underwear, perhaps, or a strange wall poster, or stuff you just couldn’t clear away in time before starting that important business call.

By downloading/updating to the latest version of the video chat software, the new blur feature becomes available for most users with desktops and laptops. To activate it;

  • Place the arrow over the video camera icon at the bottom of the screen

  • A “blur my background” button will pop up.

  • Click it and you are good to go!

The feature work by using specifically trained artificial intelligence to identify and recognize the human form. Also, the AI will detect and keep in focus not only your face but other parts of the body including hair, hands, and arms. Using this new feature is quite easy and stress less. Just like making a regular video call.”

Please note that at the very end of its post about Skype’s latest feature, the company added: “We do our best to make sure that your background is always blurred, but we cannot guarantee that your background will always be blurred.”
