  • Communicate with each other: Everybody knows that communication is the bedrock of any relationship. With communication, you might as well be single. Being able to communicate well means you can both state your position clearly and calmly and be able to really hear your partner’s position.
  • Embrace each other’s differences: No two people are the same and the said people will not change just because they are in a relationship. Accepting and embracing who your partner really is another way to love.
  • Being transparent with each other: Although there’s nothing wrong in guarding your heart especially if you have had bad past experiences but sooner or later, you’ll have to drop the guard and the wall because how can you truly say you are a couple if you are not open.
  • Being honest with each other: Honesty is the cornerstone in every healthy relationship and it should not be rejected. Honesty isn’t just the best policy, but it is unbelievably paramount with any couple
  • Watch movies: Although you and your partner’s taste in movies and music might not overlap but watching movies or going to the cinema together help you both value what you have and garners up quality time and experiences.
  • Have fun with each other: I think that without stating the obvious, if you can’t have fun with your partner, then they’re not a good match for you. I do not understand partners who don’t have fun together. Having fun together is a vital component to closeness in a relationship.
  • Feeling safe with each other: It is extremely important to feel safe with whoever you are in a relationship with. Not just physically but also emotionally, financially and sexually too. You should have the assurance that no matter what happens, your partner will always be there for you.
  • Giving each other space: When I mean space, I do not mean a break. I mean everyone needs space to do their own thing without their partner huffing and puffing behind or beside them. Space in a relationship is just as important as time together.
