This couple has been together for 33 years and have 2 sons. The couple who met at the National Arts Theater back in 1981, have remained one of the few celebrities who built their careers in the entertainment industry, devoid of any controversy or scandal.
The actress in an interview with Premium Times opened up on her marriage and shared her secret to a lasting union. In her words
When my own storms too came, it was also a learning curve for both sides (my husband and I), we both had to learn to forgive each other. I learnt that marriage is not a destination; it’s a continuous journey, and somehow, it seems like the enemy knows that, so he says, “So, you weathered this storm, let me throw another one, let me see whether you will weather this one.”
But, I think when you know the person you are married to, when you like the person you are in relationship with, when you do have respect for each other, you learn. At least for me, for my husband, he was always wanting what was best for me. I had to also learn what was best for him but I finally got. It differs from person to person and it all depends on what your background is.
Tunde and Wunmi Obe
This couple, who are both artistes have been married for more than two decades now. Since getting married, they have successfully steered clear controversies and have dropped a couple of hit songs. The coupe in an old interview revealed they were friends for 10 years before they tied the knot.
Celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary, Tunde took to social media to gush over his wife writing; ‘all our dreams came true, sweetheart. Couldn’t have had a better person by my side through this life’s journey.. You get me! I Love. You till infinity & beyond!’
Sony and Betty Irabor
These two media moguls are one of Nigeria’s well-loved couple. Sony who began his career with Radio Nigeria back then has been married to Betty who started off as a writer before becoming a media mogul and starting off her highly successful publication ‘Genevieve Magazine‘ for 3 years now.
Speaking about her man during an interview; Betty said;
“He is kind, self-giving and tolerates my excesses. Honestly, only a tolerant man like him could have married me; I am too stubborn. I always tend to want things my way. If I hadn’t married Soni, my destiny perhaps would probably have been diverted; he got me interested in the media. When I met him, I was a rookie PR girl who was totally clueless about an assignment I needed to deliver. He just happened to have saved the day for me and it was like payback time when he asked me out. He was in a relationship but I charmed my way into his heart.”
