Everything You Should Know About Nse Ikpe-Etim

Nollywood actress and producer Nse Ikpe Etim is one act we have all come to love. Since joining the movie world some years back. The actress has gone on to churn out great movies as well as snag major awards.

The actress in an interview with Punch revealed how acting started for her. According to Nse;

I started my acting career in 2007, this year; I would have spent 12 years in the Nigerian film industry. Prior to when I began acting, I had spent part of my earlier adult years in banking, at a point, I also worked at a radio and television station.

I was enchanted by Sophia Loren, the Italian actress, and singer. To be honest, I am not quite sure if this is where I thought I’d be as a child. I guess I never thought of it because acting was not a popular profession while I was growing up; besides, parents usually had other plans for their kids.

As for me, I was strong-willed that I wanted to join this profession, so I just rebelled through it all and here I am.

On her breakthrough movie, Nse told the interviewer that;

I got my major breakthrough when I took part in the movie, Reloaded. I would say that I got ‘bullied’ into playing the role of Omoze all thanks to the wonderful Emem Isong.

The actress also recently made news after she revealed that she had her womb removed a while back following a health condition.

“I was told I couldn’t have kids,” she said to the audience.

“And so, I had to have a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) to make me have a life again and to stop going through what I was going through. And I’m literarily telling women and men, it really doesn’t matter if you can’t bear children. What really matters is what you would do for the world, for the universe.”

“The ordeal made me fall into depression.

“I didn’t think there was any point anymore because my society taught me that I have to be a mother to be appreciated and every time I went online, I would have one troll or two say ‘you never born? But I’m thankful that that didn’t break me.”
