Tiwa Savage and Yemi Alade: Why a Music Collaboration Between Both Singers May Never Happen

Have you ever wondered why Tiwa Savage and Yemi Alade or most female artists, for that matter, haven’t been on a music collaboration? Well, the answer is not so far from us as Yemi Alade recently threw some light in an interview on why this kind of collaboration may not be possible.

In the interview with Ndani TV, the singer was asked if she would like to have a collaboration with Tiwa, and she said, “It’s unfortunate that with the troubles that people keep steering in our ways, it probably will never allow us to ever have a collaboration, because you’re not sure the outcome would even be positive or be over run by negative things and all the fights. When we do music, we do it so people can be happy, so when we do a song together, what are we fueling? What are we encouraging? That’s the most important question”.

This interview came just a few days after Tiwa Savage held a listening party in promotion of her new single ’49-99′. While chatting on Factory 78, the singer mentioned Yemi Alade as one of the female artists she would like to work with.

Indeed, a music collaboration between both artists could be a defining moment in their careers. It could lead to even more success for them but, on the other hand, it could also spell doom. As Yemi Alade explained in her interview, such a collaboration can send the wrong message to the fans of both artists.

Fans have always been known to indirectly instigate feuds between celebrities. With constant Twitter wars on whose idol is the greatest, they end up stirring tension between artistes, encouraging unhealthy competition. This has played out several times in the past from “Davido vs Wizkid” to “MI vs Vector” and even Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage themselves.

The two had been at loggerheads in the past in their battle for supremacy. This rivalry escalated last year after Yemi Alade threw shade via Twitter. In the tweet, she wrote:

It didn’t take long for Tiwa Savage, who thought the sub was meant for her, to reply with a not-so-cryptic message:

She went as as far as posting pictures showing off her derriere which she later deleted. Both singers also unfollowed each other Instagram. However, this beef between them appears to have come to an end as Tiwa Savage recently congratulated Yemi Alade on her new album Woman of Steel and called her the ‘Queen’. She took to Instagram to write:

“Huge congrats on your body of work Queen @yemialade. For sure you be WOMAN OF STEEL.”

Although Yemi didn’t reply, she acknowledged the post by sharing it via Instagram Stories

Since both singers appear to have squashed their beef, a collaboration between them is even more feasible. Working together could stir up more comparisons among fans but it could also lead to a new era in music – more music collaborations between Nigerian female musicians.
