Some of these things are called old-fashioned but they really should be be brought back

If you really think about it, people were polite 30-50 years ago than they are today and this might be due to social media and the fast pace in which technology is moving. It is easier to be rude from behind a device knowing that no one can hold you accountable for the things you say.

Being polite is not only for the good of yourself, but it is also for the good of the person next to you seeing as you are not sure of their mood or what they are going through.

Here are 6 things that have moved along with time and we are of the opinion that they should return asap

  • USING MORE CHARMING LANGUAGE: It is possible to be polite just by changing your tone and your language. Language, in this case, does not refer to mother-tongue. It is more about your speech. For example, instead of saying you are welcome when someone tells you to thank you, say it is my pleasure instead. See, language has changed.
  • STANDING UP TO GREET: In the olden days, when someone was introduced to a group, everyone would stand up to greet the person. There is something respectful about being eye to eye with another human even if it is just to say hello. Just stand up briefly while you shake their hand.
  • GETTING TO KNOW YOUR NEIGHBOURS: Back in the days, it was neighbourly to say hello and just greet. We know the world has changed over the years and people have become meaner but we hope that the culture of being neighbourly returns asap.
  • CALLING INSTEAD OF SENDING A WHATSAPP MESSAGE TO ASK SOMEONE OUT: A lot has changed in the world of dating and it is such a shame to see the decline in communication level just because of technology. Whatsapp messages are cool for friends but there is something really great about the closeness that comes from actually speaking on the phone.
  • GOING ON A DATE: The simplicity of going on dates like it was done back in the day is one thing that should return. Before technology and all its advances and disturbances, people were more connected and less lonely. We should reinforce human connections as this will do wonders to help strengthen and re-solidify relationships.
  • SLOWING DOWN AND LIVING A LITTLE: Being busy is not a new thing but there’s no denying the world seems ever faster today which makes it easy to speed through the day and ignore people. Slowing down will help you be more present and form connections.
