Reactions: Do Nigerians Really Support Their Rappers? Let's Find Out!

The debate about rap music being widely accepted in Nigeria has been ongoing for a very long time and this does not in any way look like it will be stopping anytime soon.

With new rappers emerging, one is forced to ask what the problem really is.

A few months ago, DMW rapper Dremo, took to his Twitter page to bemoan the sad number of people who took out time to buy his music and stream it despite claiming that they love rap music.

“Our Nigerian rappers don’t rap much” yen yen yen, but you show more love to other rappers in other countries !! I dropped an EP of 9 tracks ! 5 raps songs and remaining 4 was the soft singing vibes ! But I still see some people that call themselves “Dremo fans”

Hitting me with shit like , “why did you stop rapping?” Then I go “did you listen to CNV1” then they go “Errrrm” shut your errrmm ass up

! You are not a fan if you only follow what you see on your tv screen

Shout out to the Rappers doing this shit and making it big!! In the end if you ask them how did you do it.. They gon say it’s the support they been getting .And that’s all we all need

CNV2 in the works ! Don’t be that nigga asking me why I stopped rapping this time so you don’t ask me why I stopped replying your ass

. Peace and Love

His post, of course, received massive comments and according to one of his followers, how many of the rap songs in his album did he promote, which in fact is one of the many issues rappers have failed to tackle.

5 rap songs….How many did you promote? What do you expect from the fans, when It even seemed like you didn’t believe in the songs Dremo I expected you to drop visuals for the track with sinzu and Faya, but you didn’t

Rap is a genre many without doubts love, I mean how do you explain J Cole’s show in Nigeria becoming a sold-out show? Nigerians love rap music, there is no doubt about that but then, what is the problem with us supporting rap music made by our own people?

So guys, do tell us, do you love and support rap music? If yes, why and if no, also why?
