Learn How To Cook Tasty Ora (Oha) Soup In This 9 Easy Steps

Ora (Oha) soup is a tasty delicacy from the Eastern part of Nigeria. Interesting, it can be eaten with different kinds of swallow but most folks prefer to eat with pounded yam.

Ingredients

2 bunches of Oha/ Ora leaves

1/2 bunch of Uziza leaves

2 cups cocoyam/ Iru Ede

5 cups of beef

4 cups of assorted meat

3 large cow skin/ kpomo

2 smoked catfish/ Mangala

1 cup stock fish flesh / okporoko

1 cup dried prawn

3/4 cup crayfish

4 cups of palm fruit/ akwu

4 knorr cubes Salt to taste

2 large onions

6 Cameroon peppers/ habanero peppers

2 wraps of Ogiri Igbo

Method

Step 1: Boil raw cocoyams in a pot until it gets very soft, place it in cold water and peel off the skins. Next, put the peeled cocoyam in a blender, add some water, and blend until it is very smooth.

Step 2: Season your meat and leave it to cook.

Step 2. Boil the palm fruits until they are very soft. Once they are soft, remove it from the fire and pound till all their skins come off. Sieve the palm fruit to extract the juice.

Step 3: Next, blend your Cameroon pepper with some onions and a small quantity of water.

Step 4: Remove the stems from both your Uziza and Oha leaves.

Step 5: Clean your stockfish and add it, as well as your pomo, beef, onions,seasoning cubes and a little water, to the seasoned meat and leave to cook for about 30 minutes.

Step 6: When the meat has cooked, add your palm fruit extract, dry fish, crayfish, pepper, cocoyam paste, and Ogiri. Leave to cook for about five minutes.

Step 7: Next, add your Uziza and dried pawn and cook for about 2 minutes.

Step 8: Lastly, add Oha leaves, taste for seasoning, and cook for about 2 minutes.

Step 9: Your Soup is ready! Serve while hot with any swallow of your choice.
