There are times when you discover that you have nothing to do and you have ample time to do anything you want. What do you use this time to do? Do you intentionally use your free time or you allow it to go to waste? Unfortunately, many people spend their free time binge-watching Netflix, scrolling mindlessly through social media and engaging in unnecessary conversations.
You can be the exception to the rule and use your free time in a way that benefits you. Here are some quality ways in which you can spend your free time that you wouldn’t regret.
Plan Your Day
Unfortunately, a lot of people are unaware of how effective planning out your day can be. When you plan your day, you have a clear idea of all you have to accomplish during the day and you feel a rush of motivation you originally did not have. Try to write down all you have to do for the day and always make sure you stick to it. The more you do this, the more disciplined you become and the more successful you tend to be.
Do Something That Scares You
“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone!” This saying could never be more true. Most times, we have to do the uncomfortable things in order to get the good things of life that we so desire. So, what better way is there to spend your free time than to seek out discomfort and do things that scare you? By discomfort, I don’t mean doing things purposely to hurt yourself but rather doing those scary things that prevent you from living the life you want. Are you afraid of public speaking? If yes, then go out there and practise your public speaking skills. Who knows? You may just get your dream job thanks to the public speaking skills that you have acquired. Life is short, so try to use your fee time to do the things that scare you.
Learn A Skill
If you’ve been looking for a productive way to spend your free time, then you’ve just found one. So many studies have found that learning a new skill can improve brain power and make you smarter. Apart from this, we all need to learn new skills to advance in our careers and businesses. So, if you have some free time on your hand, research the skills that you think will be important to your life and career and start learning them.
Disengage
Of course, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. There is nothing wrong in doing things that interest you during your free time. It has even been scientifically proven that its is a great way to boost productivity. So, try use some of the time you have on your hands to enjoy yourself and even seek out more creative ways to enjoy yourself. Just don’t do it to the extent that you lose focus on your work and get distracted.
Have A Siesta
Even the most hardworking people have to take short naps to refuel their energy and feel invigorated. So, try to take short afternoon naps of not more than 20 minutes when you feel sleepy and you’ll feel energised when you wake.
