Even With The Holiday You Shouldn't Get Over-Weight. These 5 Tips Will Help You Enjoy The Holiday Without Gaining Weight

The festive seasons are usually full of merriment and feasting. During these periods, there’s always a lot to eat and drink. As a result, it might be difficult for people who are trying to lose weight to keep to their strict diets. Luckily, there are ways you can avoid gaining weight during this Christmas. Read on to find out.

Give yourself a holiday treat once in a while

It is a holiday! You shouldn’t be completely deprived from eating what you crave. At the same time, you also have a goal to not gain weight. What do you do? Give yourself occasional treats! Instead of following the conventional advice to abstain totally from foods that can cause you to gain weight. Go ahead and indulge in them so you don’t feel deprived. However, do this only once in a while. So, if you’ve been craving that bowl of ice cream, go for it. But make it a smaller bowl instead of the bigger one you’re used to. Small changes matter. It is better to plan indulge occasionally than to fall into the temptation of eating everything because you’re tired of feeling deprived.

Break up your meals into small portions

You don’t have to eat large meals just because it is an holiday. Instead of trying everything, take your favourites. If possible, make sure more than half of your plate has more veggies on it. Limit the quantity you eat by breaking your meals into small portion. You can always come back for another portion when you feel hungry again. This will help you to maintain a healthy eating plan.

Don’t skip meals

It’s normal to save your appetite for a holiday party or feast. But don’t. Skipping meals especially breakfast may result in overeating later in the day. Try to alway eat breakfast, as research shows that those who eat this important morning meal tend to consume fewer calories throughout the day. Include a lot of vegetables, fruits, and whole grains in your diet. They will help satisfy your hunger, but are low in calories.
