Jamaica’s Toni-Ann Singh emerged winner of the Miss Word title on Saturday.
Singh took to Twitter to post: “To that little girl in St. Thomas, Jamaica and all the girls around the world – please believe in yourself. Please know that you are worthy and capable of achieving your dreams. This crown is not mine but yours. You have a PURPOSE.”
On Saturday, the 23-year-old stunned the audience after singing Whitney Houston’s hit “I Have Nothing” during the beauty pageant and answering questions she was asked by British journalist Piers Morgan.
Singh is the fourth representative from Jamaica to be crowned as Miss World since 1959. The country has previously won Miss World titles in 1963, 1976 and 1993.
This is the first time that top beauty pageants around the world Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, Miss America, Miss Universe and now, Miss World — have crowned black women as their winners.
Of course, people are happy about this development and have taken to social media to gush about her victory.

Let me just openly say here if there was a Miss Congeniality Award in Miss World and Miss Universe, Nigeria would have won that title TWICE in 2019. Beautiful moments ✨❤️✨ https://t.co/qu3t6YH8Dj
