Nigeria is blessed with so many talented celebrities. There is not a single sector of the entertainment industry that you would not find a Nigerian making exploits. These celebrities are a source of inspiration to several people, including me.

So to celebrate our celebrities, I’d be writing one celebrity focus every week. This week’s celebrity is Falz the Bahd Guy.

Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz the Bahd Guy is one of Nigeria’s most successful artists. He has excelled quite well in the music industry, made a name for himself as a television and social media personality, and he is also an award winning actor. And he is just 28 years old! Anyways, I’m sure you know that he is a qualified lawyer and his father is the popular Nigerian Human Rights Activist, Femi Falana. So let me tell you 8 other things you may not know about Falz.

  • He started a music group way back in his secondary school days called “The School Boys”

  • He has his own unique style of music which he calls ‘Wahzup Music’. This style is a blend of comical lyrics with contemporary music while speaking a mixture of English, pidgin and a fake Yoruba accent.

  • The “Bahd” in his name stands for ‘Brilliand And Highly Distinct’. He has lived up to that name right?

  • He has a clothing line named “Ello bae”. He launched it in 2014.

  • He has won a BET award. He won it in 2016 in the Viewer’s Choice Best New Interntional Act category.

  • He is from Ekiti state and the only child of his parents.

  • He has his own record label called ‘Bahd Guy Records’ under which he has released 4 Studio Albums and 1 EP album with songstress, Simi.

  • He actually met Nigeria’s Music Legend, Fela Kuti. Falz revealed to us in an interview that he had met Fela once when he was still quite young and his father was Fela’s lawyer.

Last month, Falz released his latest album ‘Moral Instruction’ in which he was highly critical about several issues in the country. The album has gotten several reviews, with many applauding him and likening him to afro beat legend, Fela.
