Get Rid Of Distractions

Throughout the day, there are many activities that can get us distracted from important tasks and leave us feeling mentally drained after. This is why you need to get rid of all things that have the potential to distract you. How is your work/study environment? Is it work-friendly? Can friends and family members easily locate you and cause you to be distracted? If so, then it is important that you change your environment so that your attention will not be divided.

Our smartphones are another major source of distraction. A beep notifying you of a phone call or message is all it takes to take your mind off the thing you are supposed to be focused on. Pay Attention To Your Body

A lot of people underestimate how much factors like sleep, diet, and exercise can affect one’s productivity. If you sleep less than 7 hours per day, then your productivity is likely to suffer. Exercise is another thing that should be done daily in order to keep the body in healthy condition. When you exercise, your body releases neurotransmitters which increase your ability to focus on difficult tasks.

The good news is you don’t need to go out and run a marathon because a short walk around your neighbourhood can do the trick. Your diet also plays a big role in how productive you are. Foods that contain high amounts of sugars affect the brain and can cause lower concentration. Try to look into healthier alternatives such as fruits/vegetables, lean meat and poultry, grain (cereal), and protein sources such as milk, yogurt or cheese.

Concentration Is A Skill

In the same way athletes train for a sport, you can train your focus. The more you do it, the better you become at it. Start by setting small goals for your self. You can start by engaging in an activity for just 10 minutes per day. Once you see that your ability to concentrate is getting stronger, you can increase it to 30 minutes and so on for as long as you see your concentration level rising. So if you can’t focus on a task for long, keep training your focus an it will improve with time.

Make It A Habit

Another powerful way you can increase your focus is by doing a particular task at the same time everyday. A lot of successful people know effective this can be in creating good habits. So commit to working at a particular time of the day (preferably mornings) when you know you would be free from distractions and your concentration level will be high.

Take Breaks

It’s not possible to concentrate on something for a long period of time without getting tired. This is why you need to recharge your brain by taking proper breaks. However, taking a break doesn’t me scrolling through your phone and binge-watching Netflix. This is because these activities still stimulate your brain and leave you mentally drained instead of recharging it. You should instead take proper breaks by going for a walk, meditating, or take a short nap. Such activities might seem boring but they actually help to recharge your mental energy and boost your concentration level.

No matter what kind of lifestyle you lead, you can always make the necessary adjustments and focus more efficiently on your work. Just remember to set achievable goals on a daily basis and you will see yourself being more productive.
