Burna Boy and Mr. Eazi are two men of incredible talents that have graced the Nigerian music industry with their individualistic styles. They both had relatively good success two years ago, with Burna Boy selling out 02 Academy Brixton for his ‘Burna Boy Live In London’ Concert and Mr. Eazi who releasing a new album titled, ‘Life is Eazi Vol 2: Lagos to London” which comprises of 13 songs altogether including this one.
Not too long after this, the pair came together in this sizzling track titled, “Miss You Bad”, and once again proved to us that we’ve not seen the best of them yet as far as “Banku” music and Afrobeat are concerned.
The song begins with Mr. Eazi in his typical “Banku” element delivering rich laid-back vocals amidst slow and steady rhythms with a unique guitar instrumental playing in the background. This style of music was what endeared him to Nigerians in the first place and he has been staying true to form. Burna Boy, on the other hand, adds his own flavour and spice to the song. Although he comes in with a short verse, he funks up the song adding a cool reggae vibe to it just as his verse finishes. This song fills its audience with a rush of emotions and is capable of making the heartbroken love again.
The visuals for Miss You Bad, which was released quite earlier than the audio, had great appeal on Youtube hitting over 800,000 views a few days after its release. With just almost motionless animated versions of Mr. Eazi and Burna Boy with their lovers, the video successfully drives its message home after all. You could say Mr. Eazi is one to take risks.
“Miss you bad” is Mr. Eazi and Burna Boy’s second song together after “Bankulize” but the former apparently got more attention and has shown the magic the music geniuses can make together. With their complementing styles and relative music genres, hopefully, we will be getting more collaboration from the Banku Boss and the Reggae-dancehall sensation in the nearest future.
It is interesting to note that both Mr.Eazi and Burna Boy have come along way since this collaboration. When they released this song, they were still paying their dues and gunning for top spot in the music industry.
