Tying a “love lock” on to the Pont des Arts before throwing the key into the River Seine would have been another unusual adventure to add to the list but part of the bridge’s railings collapsed under the weight in 2014 which made the Paris officials remove some of the padlocks. The following year, over one million padlocks were removed from the bridge to prevent further damage.
