Almost everybody will agree with me that “Food is Life”. Nothing compares to a properly made meal. Apart from keeping you from going hungry, it has a lot of emotional and physical influence on the body. This is why you need to be careful of whose food you are munching on, how it was cooked, the person that cooked it, etc.
Here are 5 ways to identify bad cooks.
THEIR KITCHEN LOOK TOO CLEAN.
Their kitchens are usually are looking overly clean, almost as though they just moved in, whereas they’ve been there for long. Even though it might be well furnished with state of the art appliances needed in a kitchen, their kitchen look untouched. Imagine if such a person were to cook you a meal, Oh! God have mercy on your stomach.
THEY RARELY SALT THEIR FOOD.
How can you not salt your food, and be able to eat it – that is the perfect example of a bad cook. Perhaps maybe because they are scared of putting too much and rendering the food completely useless; they would rather take the chance of eating a flavorless meal.
THEY IMPROVISE (POORLY).
Poor cooks as expected, try to improvise with different things or ideas, as they are growing their ill cooking skills. And they do it poorly. They seasons their meals with whatever herb I lay their hands upon. Unlike a bad cook, a good cook knows that certain herbs are for meant for certain dishes. You can easily spot a poor cook, by asking him or her the name of the spice or ingredient they are adding his and how it impacts the meal; which of course will not be correctly answered. They just add what they think should be added to the meal.
INABILITY TO DIFFERENTIATE DISHES AND THEIR INGREDIENTS.
It is no surprise that they demonstrate lack of discernment on different dish styles and their cooking ingredients, since they lack proper knowledge of how to cook already. I mean, what makes a poor cook than one that knows nothing about cooking. They cannot differentiate between thee cooking use of margarine and butter, non full fat yoghurt and full fat yoghurt.
THEY ARE GUILTY OF COMMON COOKING ERRORS.
Forgetfulness makes them to burn food, either on fire or in the oven.
A poor cook will have issues with measurement. For example, knowing the quantity of salt to put in a pot of stew or knowing the quantity of rice that will be enough to cater for different numbers of people Has not worked out how much rice to put in a saucepan to feed everyone
A poor cook would have had or almost had a fire incident in the kitchen, maybe because of a burning meal escalating into a fire outbreak in the kitchen or a careless gas leak etc.
They make scrambled eggs and omelettes so bad and rubbery that they may as well be dumped in the bin.
All these are common attributes of poor cooks. Ensure you know who is cooking the food you are eating at all times, so you don’t end up in the toilet vomiting and purging your intestines. And if you are invited to a dinner in somebody’s home, ensure that their cooking skill is manageable, for safety reasons.
