SpaceX and the Exploration of Mars
As a member of the Mars Society, a nonprofit organisation interested in the exploration of Mars, Musk envisions colonising Mars in the nearest future in a bid to preserve the human race. His company SpaceX has been developing rocket technology that will make this mission possible.
Musk founded a spaceflight company SpaceX in 2002 and currently serves as its CEO. It has made history several times by becoming the first private space company to undertake several space missions including developing a liquid-propellant rocket that reached orbit; launching a spacecraft to orbit and return it to earth, and sending a private spacecraft to the international space station. These are just a few of the many amazing feats SpaceX has performed since it was founded.
Supersonic Travel
In 2013, Musk proposed an idea for a new kind of transportation, called the Hyperloop. This supersonic means of transportation is expected to convey commuters within 30 minutes or less, travelling at a faster speed than any commercial airplane can currently travel at. It will also accommodate a large number of passengers and blast through long tubes at about 1220km/hour, using solar energy. If this project comes to fruition, it will be simply revolutionary, seeing how much it will impact transportation and promote the use of clean energy.
Promoting the Use of Electric Cars
Being the serial entrepreneur that he is, one of Musk’s most innovative ventures is Tesla, the car company he co-founded in 2003 which is known for manufacturing electric cars that come with powered battery packs. The cars manufactured by Tesla are gaining prominence due to their aesthetic appeal and affordable prices. With the momentum Tesla is gaining, the chances are high that Tesla electric cars will make up the majority of cars sold in the future.
SolarCity
As a strong advocate of renewable energy, Elon Musk co-founded SolarCity, a company that specialises in the manufacturing and installation of clean energy systems for various institutions. He established this firm in 2006 to help combat global warming and provide and create a fossil-free future for the entire populace.

Philanthropic Acts Geared Towards Science
Musk Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by Musk in 2002, donates grants in support of clean energy, Science and engineering education, and paediatric health. Musk executes the bulk of his philanthropic acts through this private foundation.
