The football world is still in sadness after Argentine player, Emiliano Sala, was officially confirmed dead yesterday morning.
The confirmation came when authorities identified the body recovered from the wreckage of the plane – which was carrying the only Sala and a pilot, from France to England. We had previously brought you details on the missing plane and the search for the player and his pilot after the plane disappeared from radar on the 21st of January 2019.

Although he was born in Santa Fe, Argentina, he is of Italian descent. His full name is Emiliano Raul Sala Taffarel.

Till he was 15 years old, Sala played football for San Martin de Progreso. After which he moved on to the youth team of Club Proyecto Crecer in Argentina. He got his first real professional contract in 2012 when he signed for FC Girondins Bordeaux in France.

He had several successful loan stints before joining FC Nantes in 2015.

He scored 42 goals in over 100 appearances for Nantes, including an impressive 12 goal haul this season before signing for English club, Cardiff City FC. He was the first player to score a Ligue 1 hat-trick for Nantes since 2006.

He has never played for the Argentine National Team at any level.
