Popular Nigerian actor and comedian, Mr Ibu needs little or no introduction in the movie world. Born John Okafor on 17 October 1960 but popularly known as Mr Ibu, John broke into the Nigerian entertainment scene in 2004 after he starred in the movie“Mr Ibu”.

1.His real name is John Okafor. He was born on 17 October 1960 in Umunekwu village.
2. John was born into a large family and has three sisters and four brothers. He lost his father at the age of 15-years-old.
3. In an interview, John revealed that his childhood was terrible and rough as his family were the poorest in the village.
4. John bagged a degree in Mass Communications from the Institute of Management and Technology in Enugu.

5. He was once a firewood seller, a butcher and also a hairdresser before joining the entertainment industry.
6. He worked as a continuity manager in movies, this was how he started in Nollywood.

8. The actor since joining Nollywood has starred in over 200 movies
9. He was into boxing before he became an actor.
’I would have been a boxer. I used to be a boxer. I was doing well until I went for a championship in Delta State.
‘’The boy I fought with was an idiot; he gave me a beating I would never forget. That boy changed my face and made me hate anything that had to do with gloves.
‘’After the fight, I looked in the mirror and I could not even recognize myself. I could see with only one eye for sometime due to
the punches he dealt me. That was the incident that made me quit boxing.’’
10. He married his long-time love and mother of his two children, Stella Marris in 2015.
