Popularly known as Don Jazzy, Micheal Collins Ajereh is a multi-winning award record producer, singer-songwriter, musician. Since his emergence on the scene, Don Jazzy has produced a couple of top music acts in the country to include Korede Bello, Reekado Banks amongst others.

Speaking on the Nigerian music industry in an interview, Jazzy stated that;

The Nigerian music industry has come a long way. We used to get sentimental about these things and some still are. Unlike when it used to take everyone unawares, people have gotten used to it, I’ve been through almost every scenario you can think of in the music industry. It’s not the end of the world. You get to realize that these things happen. If you get to a point where you feel you can do it by yourself, then why not?”I don’t really want to be with anyone that doesn’t want to be with me. My contract is the only contract in the world that has the clause ‘the moment you’re tired, you can go.’”

Here are 10 things you should know about Don Jazzy.

1. His real name is Micheal Collins Ajereh. He was born in Umuahia before his family moved to Ajegunle.

2. He attended Federal Government College Lagos for his secondary school education.

3. Jazzy as he is sometimes called developed a flair for music from the tender age of 4 when he started singing and playing the drums.

4. He moved to London In 2000 where he played the drums for a local church.

5. He studied Business Management at the Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma in Edo state.

6. Don Jazzy has done a number of odd jobs to include a job at McDonald’s as well as a security guard.

7. He produced the 2004 hit song “Tongolo” for singer D’banj then went on to D’banj’s first studio album titled “No Long Thing” released in 2005.

8. Jazzy has collaborated with international acts Jay Z and Kanye West. He worked on the production of Lift Off, which featured Beyonce on the album ‘Watch the throne’ released in 2011.

9. Don Jazzy has worked with top acts in the country to include Tiwa Savage.

10. He is a businessman with investment in the oil sector as he owns a number of fuel tankers.

11. In 2011, Kanye West took notice of him and signed him up as a producer on his GOOD Music label.

10. Don Jazzy won the People Entertainment Award and the Special Recognition Award for his contribution to the music industry in 2015.
