10 Things you Should Know About DJ Jimmy Jatt

Ace Nigerian disc jockey, DJ Jimmy Jatt born as Jimmy Adewale Amu in Lagos, Nigeria needs little or no introduction in the music world. Jimmy Jatt started his career as a rapper by the name of Master J before finding his way into DJing.

Jimmy Jatt who has been married for years, in an interview with Punch, spoke on how he met his wife.

According to him;

We met at a party. Where else should a DJ meet a lady? Also, don’t mind the Yoruba who say a wife you meet in a dance house will later dance away. It is a big lie. My friend met his wife in the church and she is gone.

I met mine at a party, we danced and we are still dancing. When you tell people you met a girl in the club, they would have a wrong impression of her. But the club is not the devil’s place of hangout; it is just a fun place.”

On how he convinced her to marry him;

“It was a progression. I dated my wife for six years before we got married. We never planned to get married from the start. When we met, I was very young. I was 22. ,I thought she was pretty and she thought I was sociable. Before we knew it, we had spent years together”.

1. He was born as Jimmy Adewale Amu in Lagos, Nigeria on October 15th

2. The ace DJ loves blues, soul, jazz, highlife, R&B and other indigenous genres.

3. He started his entertainment career as a rapper with the name Master J.

4. He is from Ijebu Ode, Ogun state.

5. He is the pioneer of the Road Block Street Carnival

6. In 1993, he joined forced with DJ Raves to create the show hooked up which ran in major university campuses across Nigeria.

7. He has played at top shows to include LL Cool J/Akon Star Mega Jam, MTN Friendship is Beautiful Tour, 50cent Concert, MTV Base Lunch with 2Face 7 Lebo in Lagos and the Globacom Campus Storm Tour to mention a few.

8. His first single titled “Stylee” featuring iconic singer 2face Idibia, Mode 9 and Elajoe was a hit and enjoyed massive airplay.

9. He has worked with top acts such as 2face Idibia, Mode 9, Elajoe, Akon, 50cent, Wyclef Jean, Sean Paul and LL Cool J to mention a few.

10. DJ Jimmy Jatt has snagged many awards and nominations. He was nominated for  Channel O Africa Music Video Award for Best Video of the Year category.
