10 Things You Should Know About Beverly Naya

British born Nigerian actress, Beverly Naya is one actress many have come to adore.

The stunning actress was born in London, United Kingdom back in 1989 and is the only child to her parents.

She broke into the Nigerian movie world in 2010 with the Nollywood film “Living in Exile” and has remained a force to reckon with.

Here are 10 things you probably didn’t know about Beverly Naya.

1. The actress was born Beverly Ifunaya Bassey on 17 April 1989 in London, United Kingdom. Beverly is also her parents only child.

2. She began her acting career at the age of 17 while still at college studying philosophy, psychology and sociology. Beverly graduated from Brunel University.

3. The actress also studied script-writing and film-making at Roehampton University.

4. In an interview, Beverly revealed that she decided to relocate to Nigeria because of the rapid growth of Nollywood as well as the many opportunities it has for aspiring actors.

5. Genevieve Nnaji and Ramsey Nouah are some of her mentors.

6. Beverly has snagged a couple of awards to include one for Fast Rising Actress at the 2011 City People Entertainment Awards and the Most Promising Talent category at 2010 Best Of Nollywood Awards.

7. Bevrely was also nominated for an award at the 2014 ELOY Awards. She was nominated for TV Actress of the Year for her role in the Nigerian series, Tinsel.

8. She featured in the 2014 Nigerian romantic comedy film titled “When Love Happens” alongside Gideon Okeke and Desmond Elliot.

9. In 2019, she produced a documentary titled Skin which dealt with skin bleaching amongst other issues. On her experience while putting the documentary together, Beverly said;

“As an industry, we need to diversify.

“As a person, I need to impact on people. I grew up in very difficult situation. I was bullied and mocked for my skin.

“Same problem is trending and I have to contribute my best to stop it.”

“I interviewed about 30 people, including Bobrisky, for this project and I had the opportunity to travel to my home town, Delta, for the first time. I aim at being Nigeria’s prolific documentary expert,” Naya said.

10. Beverly has also worked alongside top entertainment stars like Bukky Wright, Desmond Elliot, Wale Ojo, amongst many others.
