10 Things you Probably do not Know About DJ Xclusive

Rotimi Alakija on 16 October in the United Kingdom to Nigerian parents, DJ Xclusive for years has succeeded in entertaining millions of Nigerians across the globe and still is entertaining even more.  Xclusive is the nephew to Nigerian businesswoman, Folorunsho Alakija and since emerging on the scene has gone on to snag many awards to include the World Best DJ award at the 2010 Nigeria Entertainment Awards held in the United States.

Here are 10 things you probably do not know about DJ Xclusive

1. He was born Rotimi Alakija on 16 October in the United Kingdom to Nigerian parents.

2. Xclusive moved back to the country to complete his secondary education at King’s College in Lagos and is related to Nigerian businesswoman, Folorunsho Alakija.

3. After completing his secondary education, he moved back to the UK to complete his tertiary education and bagged a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and Computer Science at the Reading University.

4. Xclusive also bagged a degree  in Financial Computing at the Brunnel University before returning to the country.

I came back with the idea that I wanted to play a part in the Nigerian music industry. I think Nigerian music is booming right now and it has been for a while. Again, I feel a lot of DJs are not respected in Nigeria and I feel myself and a couple of DJs can change that and get DJs to that level where they should be respected. In Nigeria everybody worships the artiste, in London and America, they respect the DJ and I’m hoping to change that.

5. He began to DJ professionally in 2003.

6. He has worked with top acts such as Nas, Rihanna, Fat Joe, Ne-Yo, Mario Winans, Wizkid and Brick & Lace to mention a few.

7. Xclusive snagged the award for the World Best DJ award at the 2010 Nigeria Entertainment Awards held in the United States.

8.The ace DJ was nominated for Best DJ at the 2011 edition of the Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television Awards (BEFFTA Awards).

9. He joined Empire Mates Entertainment as Wizkid’s official DJ.

I first got signed with Wizkid as his official DJ in August 2011. I had a vision in terms of where I want to take my career to. At the same time, Banky was signing on other people. Obviously they were impressed by my skills with Wizkid and my background as well in terms of what I’ve achieved so we had a meeting. I met with the directors, we shared our visions and we put pen to paper around April this year before we went on tour.

10. In 2011, he became the resident DJ for CoolFM 96.9.
