Nigerian comedian AY Makun is one of the few who since hitting the limelight has remained in the consciousness of billions.
Here are 10 facts about him many do not know.
1. The funny man has been married to his wife Mabel a director at Corporate World Entertainment LTD for more than 6 years. The couple met in college when he had his university when he had his “The Most Beautiful Girl in DELSU” (Delta State University) beauty contest.

2. He has more female fans than male. In an interview with Nigeria Films website, the comedian stated that getting married seemed to make him more desirable to females.
3. He mimics Rev. Chris Okotie during his gigs a lot. “I love to mimic him because of his person, character and good command of English. I decided to do that while his sermon tagged ‘Apocalypses’ was on the TV. I wanted to do a joke people could relate with then and that was how it started.”
4. He was a popular student in college. He snagged the award for the ‘Most Fashionable Student on Campus, Most Celebrated Student on Campus and Best Showbiz Promoter, the Most Celebrated Theatre Arts Student award’ and a few others while in school.
5. He studied theatre arts in university and was head of the drama team at his church while growing up.
6. He is a hustler. Before becoming the big brand he is today, AY did a lot of menial jobs to survive. He was into event planning, dry cleaner, he was also a bartender, a scavenger and a barber.
7. He was Ali Baba’s P.A at a time. They met after AY invited the veteran to perform at a comedy show he organized while in the university. Ali was impressed with Ay’s organizational skills and invited him to work for him in Lagos.
8. He hit the limelight unexpectedly. AY made name at the “Made in Warri” back in 2005 show. He was made to perform for 5 minutes by Ali Baba surprised unexpectedly and wowed the audience causing the organizers to invite him for the next show.
9.He is oldest son in a family of seven children. He is from Ondo State but was raised in the Delta State.
10. He was orphaned while in university. The comedian lost his parents while he was in the university yet remained so focused. According to his wife Mabel, his ability to remain focus despite this was one of the many things that attracted her to him.
