10 Rappers Who Have Come Out as Gay

Social media had a meltdown a few hours ago after rapper Lil Nas X came out as a gay man.

His coming out has since caused many debates online and thus prompting this article.

Here are 10 rappers who have come out as gay.

Lil Nas X

Lil Nas X came out of the closet on World Pride Day 2019, writing, “some of y’all already know, some of y’all don’t care, some of y’all not gone fwm no more. but before this month ends i want y’all to listen closely to c7osure,” along with a rainbow emoji.

The lyrics of the songs goes thus;  “Ain’t no more actin’, man that forecast say I should just let me grow/No more red light for me baby, only green, I gotta go/Pack my past up in the back, oh, let my future take ahold/This is what I gotta do, can’t be regrettin’ when I’m old” and “True say, I want and I need to let go, use my time to be free.”

I Love Makonnen

Rapper iLoveMakonnen came out as a gay man in January 2017. He took to Twitter to say; “And since y’all love breaking news, here’s some old news to break, I’m gay,” he wrote. “And now I’ve told u about my life, maybe u can go life [sic] yours.”

Azaelia Banks

The rapper is openly bisexual. She came under massive heat from the LGBTQ community after she called Perez Hilton the F word.

Frank Ocean

Frank Ocean revealed he is gay in 2012, via a Tumblr post, adding at the end of the post that he felt like a “free man.”

Kevin Abstract

Kevin Abstract who is a founding member of the hip hop boy band Brockhampton revealed he realized he is gay at the age of 16 after his first sexual experience with another male. Abstract said he sawFrank Ocean’s 2012 Tumblr letter as an inspiration to talk about his sexuality.

Angel Haze

Angel Haze revealed she is pan-sexual, defining her sexuality as, “someone who sees people for who they are, and not gender.” She adds that she “doesn’t base all of [her] relationships off of sex,” and that “to kind of identify as pansexual, to [her], means to just want love.”

Deadlee

Deadlee is known to use lyrics that tackle subjects such as homosexuality, race, class, and police brutality in his music. He married his partner in 2013.

Jonny McGovern

Jonny is openly gay. He is a comedian, musician, and rapper best known as “The Gay Pimp.”

Cazwell

The rapper is openly gay.

Qboy

The UK rapper is an openly gay and is a  pioneer of the homo hip-hop movement in music.
