For a couple of celebrities today, they started off by participating, in reality TV shows and today we will be listing 10 of such celebrities who gained stardom first from reality TV shows.

Here are 10 celebrities who got their start on reality TV.

Ebuka Uchendu

Ebuka first hit the spotlight as a housemate on the first season of Big Brother Naija reality show. Despite finishing in the eight position, he has gone on to build a successful career for himself. Ebuka now hosts the reality show Big Brother Naija, the long-running Rubbin’ Minds talk show on Channels TV as well as co-hosting The Spot and Men’s Corner on Ebonylife Television.

Timi Dakolo

Vocal powerhouse Timi Dakolo rose to fame after emerging winner of West African Idol 2007.

His win earned him a recording contract with Sony BMG, alongside other prizes. Today, Timi is one of the A-listers in the Nigerian music scene.

Yemi Alade

Nigerian Afro-pop singer and songwriter hit the limelight in 2009 after winning the Peak Talent Show. Known for her hit single “Johnny”, Yemi has gone on to build a huge brand for herself as Mama Africa.

Uti Nwachukwu

Nwachukwu hit the limelight after emerging winner of Big Brother Africa season 5 in 2010. He has since delved into Nollywood while hosting some shows on TV.

Nigerian R&B songwriter, producer and singer hit the spotlight after he finished second runner-up at the maiden season of Project Fame West Africa. ince leaving the show, he has released a couple of successful songs and made a name for himself in the Nigerian entertainment scene.

Tonto Dikeh

Tonto Dikeh first hit the spotlight as a contestant on a show called “The Next Movie Star” in 2005. Tonto was the first runner-up and has since gone on to build a successful acting career for herself.

Darey

This ace singer/songwriter rose to fame after he participated in the 2004 edition of Project Fame Academy. He came third in the contest.

Omawumi

Omawumi Megbele rose to fame after contesting in the first edition of West African Idols music competition. The Law graduate emerged second on the show. Since the show, Omawumi has released a couple of hit tracks and acted in a couple of TV shows.

Iyanya

Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, hit the limelight after he won the first season of Project Fame West Africa. Not long after he left the house, he released his hit single “Kukere” and has gone on to release more hits.

Chidinma

Chidinma Ekile is another Nigerian celebrity emerged the winner of the third season of MTN Project Fame West Africa in 2010. She has also gone to create a huge music career
