With the year just remaining 54 months to come to an end, the entertainment industry has had to bury some of it’s own this year.
Here are 1o actors that have passed in 2019.
1. Gbenga ‘Burger’ Akintunde
The actor died on Thursday, January 3, after he went to the hospital to complain of malaria. He hit the limelight with his role in the movie, ‘July 7’. He was aged 47.
Announcing his death, Kunle wrote;
You called yesterday to confirm if I will still be holding my new year party today and I was called this afternoon that you are no more …BURGER…Heard u went to the hospital to complain about malaria this afternoon and in few hours u are in the mortuary… this is so sad ……Planning to celebrate you in few days time …imagine the shock and tears ..Oye olorun”
2. Adewale Olanrewaju
The actor who was popularly known as ‘I show Larry’ Olanrewaju died on Monday, January 21. He produced a couple of movies to include ‘Agbara,’ and ‘Ole’. He passed at the age of 36. Cause of his death is unknown.
3. Funmilayo ‘Ijewuru’ Ogunsola
Funmilayo ‘Ijewuru’ Ogunsola died on Monday, February 4 at her home in Ibadan. She was married to the late movie star, Ishola ‘I show Pepper’ Ogunsola. Funmi passed at the age of 58
4. Benson Akindeju
Movie producer Benson Akindeju died on March 4. He produced the popular sitcom on TV, ‘Face 2 Face.’ He passed from cancer and was aged 59.

5. Rotimi Alfred Popoola
The actor died on Thursday, February 27 in Abeokuta, Ogun state. Popoola acted in Nollywood movies such as ‘Aiye Foreign,’ and ‘Ropo Ijogbon.’
A statement to announce his death read thus;
“We are saddened to announce the untimely death of our beloved colleague Hon. Alfred Rotimi Popoola aka Ilu Venture. After brief sickness; yesterday 27th Feb., 2019.
“There will be a short memorial service at St Jude Cathedral, Church, Iberekodo, Abeokuta.
In order to give him last respect we planned to join the family at Lantoro Mortuary by 10am tomorrow from where we will move to the church.
“May his soul rest in peace! Ilu oooo digba ooo se,
He passed at the age of 51
6. Tony Anyasodor
Tony passed in the early hours of Thursday, March 7. One of his colleagues announced his death on Facebook. He died at the age of 51
7. Paul Emema
Paul Emema, a renowned producer, who worked on soap operas such as ‘Behind the Clouds’ and ‘Supple Blues’, passed on March 12 at the age of 52
8. Abe Ishola Monsurat Olabisi
The actress passed away on Saturday, March 30 after she delivered a baby girl. She was aged 39
9. LinChung Duke Oliver
Duke ‘LinChung’ Oliver died on April 2 after a car crash on his way to Lagos from his mom’s burial. He was aged 45
10. Ifeanyichukwu Onyeabor
The actor died while filming in Jos on April 19. He was 51
