Not everyone wants to have kids and we have a couple of the world’s biggest stars who have decided against becoming a mom and have spoken about their decision to steer clear parenting and instead focus more on themselves and partners.
Here are 10 Hollywood actresses who do not have and want kids.
Hollywood actress Renee Zellweger is very blunt and clear when it comes to talking about not wanting children. in an interview with the London Times back in 2008, the actress said: “Motherhood has never been an ambition. I don’t think like that.’
Renee in another interview stated that;
“I’ve never really thought like that about anything in my life, really,” Zellweger said. “I’ve always been kind of open to whatever may be, curious to see what’s next. I’ve never been that deliberate about my life and the things that I would require in order to be happy.”
Aniston has always made clear her decision to not have kids is no one’s business. According to the former ‘Friends’ actress in an interview with Glamour;
“Having a child, as we know, is no one’s business except the couple or individual that’s going through it.
“My ideas of what a happy life and fulfilled life are might be different from other people’s. I think it’s to each their own,” Aniston said. “Nobody’s right to judge someone else’s choices. No one knows what’s going on beyond the four walls of your home, of these people who are having or not having children. It’s a very sensitive area to go to, especially. It’s sensitive to me.”
Actress and comedian Margaret Cho via her blog back in 2012 made it really clear she is not one to have kids as she does not want to love anymore that much. In her words;
“My fear of having children is that frankly, I just don’t want to love anyone that much.”
Sex and the City actress Kim Cattrall is more about being free. Kim who played the role of Samantha in the movie said; “When I was 5, my fantasy was to have a hundred dogs and a hundred kids. I realized that so much of the pressure I was feeling was from outside sources, and I knew I wasn’t ready to take that step into motherhood. Being a biological mother just isn’t part of my experience this time around,” she told O, The Oprah Magazine, in 2003.
Hollywood veteran actress Betty White stated in 2011 during an appearance on CBS Sunday Morning that she has never regretted not having kids. “No, I’ve never regretted it. I’m so compulsive about stuff. I know that if I had ever gotten pregnant, of course, that would’ve been my whole focus. But I didn’t choose to have children because I’m focused on my career and I don’t think as compulsive as I am that I could manage both.”
Portia de Rossi
Hollywood actress Hellen Mirren told British Vogue in 2013 that: “It was not my destiny. I kept thinking it would be, waiting for it to happen, but it never did, and I didn’t care what people thought…It was only boring old men [who would ask me]. And whenever they went, ‘What? No children? Well, you’d better get on with it, old girl,’ I’d say ‘No! F*ck off!'”
She is very most about her decision on not wanting kids. In her cover story in a 2014 Esquire feature, Diaz said; “It’s so much more work to have children. To have lives besides your own that you are responsible for—I didn’t take that on. That did make things easier for me. A baby—that’s all day, every day for 18 years. Not having a baby might really make things easier, but that doesn’t make it an easy decision.” She added, “I like protecting people, but I was never drawn to being a mother. I have it much easier than any of them.
That’s just what it is. Doesn’t mean life isn’t sometimes hard. I’m just what I am. I work on what I am. Right now, I think, things are good for me. I’ve done a lot. And I don’t care anymore.”
Actress and media mogul Oprah Winfrey is of the opinion that if she have kids, her kids would hate her. She told The Hollywood Reporter that; “If I had kids, my kids would hate me. They would have ended up on the equivalent of the Oprah show talking about me; because something [in my life] would have had to suffer and it would’ve probably been them.”
Marisa does not believe in women’s “duty” to have children, She stated “I don’t know why women need to have children to be seen as complete human beings” Tomei told Manhattan Magazine in 2009.
