10 Evergreen Nigerian Movies you Should Definitely Re-watch

Nollywood has indeed come along way and over the years Nigerians have been blessed with great movies.

Here are 10 classic Nigerian movies worth seeing once more.

1) Rattle Snake* (Directed by Amaka Igwe/1995)

Storyline- The movie surrounds the character Ahanna Okolo, a young man who chose a life of crime due to the unfortunate events in his childhood. The likes of Francis Duru, Nkem Owoh, Anne Njemanze, Ebele Uzochukwu, Bob Manuel, amongst other top acts, acted in this movie.

2) Sakobi* (Directed by Zeb Ejiro/1998)

The story tells the story of Francis who sacrificed his daughter for wealth this of course cost him a lot as well as the introduction of a seductress/snake girl by the name of Sakobi in their lives. Saint Obi, Susan Patrick, Tony Umez, Edith Ujay, Sunday Omobolanle, Zik Okafor and others, proved just how good they are in this movie.

3) Keeping Faith (Directed by Steve Gukas/2002)

This movie tells just how bad it is to use black magic in keeping a man. Nadine, the main actress in the movie employs the use of jazz to keep her man Princewill. Ace actors Genevieve Nnaji, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Joke Silva, Bimbo Akintola, amongst others were employed to bring this movie to life.

4) Glamour Girls* (Directed by Chika Onukwufor/1994)

Storyline- This is a classic as it touched on the themes of sex and money. The movie also shone a light on sexuality. Actress Eucharia Anunobi and actor Zack Orji hit major limelight after this movie.

5) Forever* (Directed by Amaka Igwe/1997)

This movie is about a young boy who got separated from his mum to go live with his father and step mum. He was neglected to make him turn to drugs amongst other vices. His mother’s love, however, helps bring him back. Actors in the movie include Justus Esiri, Hilda Dokubo, John Nwaobi, Ohi Alegbe, Jaiye Aboderin (late) and others.

6) Amadas (Directed by Andy Amenechi/1998)

This movie tells the story of three armed robbers who during one of their bank operations, saw one of them shooting the brother of a gang member which caused major issues amongst them.

Actors– Enebeli Elebuwa, Saint Obi, Bimbo Akintola, Adaora Okoh, Peter Bruno, Keppy Ekpeyong Bassey among others.

7) Violated* (Directed by Amaka Igwe/1996)

This movie is about Tega a rich kid who fell in love with Peggy a young lady from a humble background. Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ego Boyo, Kunle Bamtefa, Joke Silva, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi and others, acted in the movie.

8) Silent Night* (Directed by Chico Ejiro/1996)

The storyline revolves around a young rich kid, Stanley, who joined a robbery gang led by Black Arrow. It stars Ramsey Nouah Jr, Segun Arinze, Alex Usifo, Joke Silva, Kate Henshaw and others.

9) Chain Reaction (Directed by Ndubuisi Okoh/1999)

This is a gripping tale of a tyrannical woman who rules over an extended family with an iron fist. Karma soon found its way into her life. Liz Benson, Pete Edochie, Ernest Asuzu, Onyeka Onwenu and Rita Edochie, acted in the movie.

10) Hostages (Directed by Tade Ogidan/1997)

The story revolves around the son of a poor man who falls in love with the daughter of a rich man.Tope Idowu, Ofuafo Otomewo, Richard Mofe Damijo, Bimbo Manuel, Lanre Slogan, Tunji Sotimirin and Buky Ajayi, starred in the movie.
