The multi-award-winning singer was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2001. In an interview with People magazine, Mariah stated that she “lived in denial and isolation” for years. She added that she decided on seeking treatment after a series of professional and romantic issues. “I put positive people around me, and I got back to doing what I love — writing songs and making music.”
Bebe Rexha
The Grammy Award-winning singer let the world know about her diagnosis via Twitter. She tweeted, “I’m bipolar and I’m not ashamed anymore.” Rexha went on to say how much she’s looking forward to her next project: “This next album will be favorite album ever because I’m not holding anything back.”
Mel Gibson
The Hollywood icon in a 2008 documentary, revealed that he has bipolar disorder.
Demi Lovato
Demi has always been vocal about her mental health. This Welsh-born Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress who has also gone on to win other awards as well as garner nominations is married to Michael Douglas. The couple has been married since 2000. During Douglas’ battle with tongue cancer, Catherine was so stressed it led to depression and a diagnosis of bipolar disorder.

This singer and songwriter who hit the limelight in 1990 with her hit single Nothing Compares 2 U, made news after she performed on Saturday Night Live in 1992 where she tore up a picture of the pope. Sinead went on to disclose that she has had bipolar disorder for a while and ten years later, she posted a video where she detailed her struggles with mental illness.
Jean-Claude Van Damme
Belgian-born martial arts action film star, who hit the limelight with the 1988’s Bloodsport revealed he has bipolar disorder. In 2011, he also revealed that he takes medication for mood swings something he says he had since childhood.
Carrie Fisher
Fisher was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of 24. She was quite vocal about mental health before she died of a heart attack in 2016.
Brian Wilson
Wilson is known for having produced nine great albums and 16 hit singles in a 3-year span. However, a panic attack on an aeroplane in 1964, put a stop to him touring. He learned about his bipolar disorder years later.
