With each passing day, more and more women come out to share their survival story as the rate at which rape cases are being reported seems to be getting higher by the day.

Some Hollywood celebrities have had the misfortune of being raped and have come out to share their stories.

Here are 10 celebrities who survived rape.

Jane Fonda

The veteran actress during an interview back in 2017 revealed that she was raped and sexually abused as a child.

In her words;

“I’ve been raped, I’ve been sexually abused as a child and I’ve been fired because I wouldn’t sleep with my boss,” she said. “I always thought it was my fault; that I didn’t do or say the right thing.”

Fiona Apple

The singer/songwriter was raped outside of her family’s apartment in 1989. She was 12-years-old at the time.

Ashley Judd

The Bug actress Ashley Judd talked about her rape experience in her memoir All That Is Bitter and Sweet.

Lady Gaga

The ‘A Star Is Born ‘ actress during a radio interview with Howard Stern in 2014 revealed that had been raped by a record producer who was twenty older at the age of 19 years old.

Gaga’s song Swine is about the incident.

She said, “The song is about rape. The song is about demoralization. The song is about rage and fury and passion and I had a lot of pain that I wanted to release and I said to myself, ‘I want to sing this song while I’m ripping hard on a drum kit and then I want to get on a mechanical bull, which is probably one of the most demoralizing things that you can put a female on in her underwear, and I want this chick to throw up on me in front of the world so that I can tell them ‘You know what, you can never ever degrade me as much as I could degrade myself and look how beautiful it is when I do.’”

Gabrielle Union

The actress revealed she was raped at the age of 19 while working at a shoe store. Union is now married and welcomed her first child in 2018.

Teri Hatcher

Desperate Housewives actress Teri Hatcher is also a rape survivor. She revealed she was raped at the age of 5 by her uncle. In 2002, Hatcher testified against the man, he was later sentenced to 14 years in prison.
