While we have some celebrities who furthered their educational careers and bagged one or two degrees, we have some others who never attended college.
Here are 10 celebrities who did not attend university.
Jessica Alba
After the Hollywood actress graduated from Claremont High School in Claremont, California, she decided against going to college and instead took acting classes at the Atlantic Theater Company in New York.
At the age of 19, back In 2000, Alba got her big break when James Cameron gave her the Max Guevara role in the series Dark Angel. Alba snagged a Golden Globe nomination for the role. Alba has gone on to create a brand for herself as she is the founder and chairperson of The Honest Company, which, was valued at nearly $1 billion back in 2017 by Forbes.
Beyonce
Since her emergence on the scene Bey has dominated becoming the first Black woman to headline Coachella in 2018. Beyonce dropped out of Alief Elsik High School in Houston, Texas so as to focus on her music career as a member of Destiny’s Child back then. She has since gone on to create a powerful brand for herself.
Jay Z
Just like his wife Beyoncé, Jay-Z skipped college. Born Shawn Corey Carter, the powerful rapper attended Eli Whitney High School in Brooklyn before later transferring to George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School and Trenton Central High School in New Jersey. Jay did not graduate from either of the schools.
Britney Spears
After Spears, 11, at that time, joined the cast of Disney’s ’90s revival of The Mickey Mouse Club at age 11, she decided to attend the Parklane Academy, but left at some point to pursue music. At 18, Spears released her debut album, ...Baby One More Time with the lead single on the album scoring her a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 1999. The album also went on to receive a two-time platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America.
Rihanna
The award-winning singer who was born in Barbados, left school at the age of 16 to secure her music deal with Def Jam Records. She has since gone on to drop countless hit songs.
Whoopi Goldberg
The veteran Hollywood actress dropped out of Washington Irving High School in N.Y.C due to her with dyslexia, She later relocated to California where she landed a role in The Color Purple, which got her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
Katy Perry
Katy earned her GED at15-year-old before deciding to focus on her music career and hitting it big in the 2000s with records such as “Hot N Cold” and “I Kissed a Girl.” She has since gone on to top charts.
Prince Harry
Prince Harry attended Eton College, a boarding high school in the U.K then took a gap year to work on a cattle station in Australia. Harry, in 2005, enrolled in the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and has since been promoted.
Hilary Swank
Actress Hillary Swank dropped out of high school so she could pursue a career on the movie world. Speaking with Today back in 2010, Swank said; “I’m not proud to say I’m a high school dropout.” Swank attended South Pasadena High School in California, briefly and made her film debut in the 1992 movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She has since acted in many other movies and snagged awards for her roles.
Chris Rock
The ace comic’s parents took him away from James Madison High School in N.Y.C.as he was getting bullied. Rock eventually earned his GED. In 1990, then joined the cast of Saturday Night Live which birthed his amazing career.
