10 Artistes Who Have Dumped Their Record Labels

The music industry was shocked a few days ago when Oladips revealed he had left his label LRR owned by ace rapper Reminisce.

Today we will be talking discussing 10 Nigerian artistes who have left their labels due to one reason or the other.

Oladips (LRR Records)

The ace rapper announced a  few weeks ago that he has finally left the label owned by Reminisce after about 3years with the label. Oladips announced this via a song titled Maybe where he subtly revealed that his decision to leave was due to a breach of contract on Reminisce’s part.

Skales (Baseline Music)

Skales was signed to Baseline in 2014, the is managed by veterans Howie T and Dipo Abdul. Sources claim Skales moved on after a year of no investment.

Runtown (Ericmany Entertainment)

Runtown terminated his deal with Ericmany Entertainment in May 2018 citing many issues to include money problems, a threat to life and gross disrespect from his label CEO, Prince Okwudili Umenyiora.

Lil Kesh (YBNL)

Lil Kesh left YBNL Records after his two-year contract with the Olamide-led label ended. The rapper moved on to form his own imprint, YAGI, with the help of his ex-boss. He is still managed by YBNL.

Ice Prince (Chocolate City)

After his contract with Chocolate expired, Ice Prince remained affiliated to the label, and just a while back made it public that he had left. He has created his own label, Super Cool Cats.

Saeon (Baseline Records)

Saeon was freed from her contract with Baseline Music contract, due to creative differences and the label’s alleged lack of support for her artistic direction and progression.

Debie Rise (800 Records)

The former Nigeria Idol contestant and BBNaija housemate ended her contract with her label, 800 Records after she asked that the record of the financial investment carried out in her career be shown to her.

Milli (Chocolate City

Milli departed Chocolate City due to the label preventing him from releasing music, and dropping his projects.

Baci (Triple MG)

Triple MG refused to hand Baci a contract after he spent 6 years with them hence his departure.

Chidinma (Capital Hills)

Chidinma after her deal with Capital Hill Records ended did not extend it. Both parties parted way amicably though. She has since released a couple of records since her departure from the label.
